PADUCAH, Ky. -- Two people are facing child abuse charges after a child was brought to a hospital for injuries in western Kentucky.

The Paducah Police Department said Maalik S. Rush, 24, and his girlfriend Willow K. Devasier, 22, both of Paducah, were arrested after an investigation into some bruises and a fractured skull on a two-year-old.

Police said the toddler was brought to a local hospital for the injuries on Sunday. After arrival, authorities were called in to investigate.

The child received care at the hospital and was then flown to an out-of-state treatment facility for advanced care.

Both Rush and Devasier were interviewed Tuesday morning and were arrested. They face first-degree criminal abuse charges and were taken to the McCracken County Regional Jail.
