Death toll up to 12 in Missouri after storms hitting

POPLAR BLUFF, Mo. (WSIL) � The death toll from storms hitting on Friday night is now up to 12 in Missouri.

At least seven of the deaths were reported in southeast Missouri, with six fatalities in Wayne County and one reported out of Butler County.

Butler County saw much damage to churches, businesses, homes and other structures. This includes mobile home park where one person died.

The Wayne County Sheriff’s Office informed people to stay away from the affected areas as crews work the scenes. Multiple deaths and injuries were reported and neighboring counties are helping with food and resources for the public.

A shelter has also been set up at the Black River Coliseum in Poplar Bluff for those who need shelter and resources.
