TUESDAY...

* WHAT...Heat index values up to 108 expected.

* WHERE...All of southern Illinois, southwest Indiana, western
Kentucky, and southeast Missouri.

* WHEN...Until 7 PM CDT /8 PM EDT/ Tuesday.

* IMPACTS...Hot temperatures and high humidity may cause heat
illnesses.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

Drink plenty of fluids, stay in an air-conditioned room, stay out of
the sun, and check up on relatives and neighbors.

Take extra precautions when outside. Wear lightweight and loose
fitting clothing. Try to limit strenuous activities to early morning
or evening. Take action when you see symptoms of heat exhaustion and
heat stroke.

Rend Lake College to hold ribbon cutting on manufacturing academy, marketplace showcase

MOUNT VERNON, Ill. (WSIL) -- A local college is cutting the ribbon soon on a new manufacturing academy in southern Illinois. 

Rend Lake College is inviting the community to the Southern Illinois Manufacturing Academy ribbon cutting and Rend Lake College MarketPlace Showcase event in southern Illinois.

This event will take place on November 21, from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. at the Rend Lake College Marketplace at 321 Potomac Blvd., in Mt. Vernon.

Along with the celebrating the opening for the Southern Illinois Manufacturing Academy, many programs offered at the MarketPlace will also be showcased.
