ULLIN, Ill (WSIL) -- The Board of Trustees hired the school's ninth president Tuesday night with the selection of Dr. Tim Taylor.
In a prepared statement, the college described Dr. Taylor as someone who brings an extensive background in academic leadership, community partnerships and performance-based curriculum design. The college also states, Dr. Taylor brings tremendous depth and leadership focused on student success.
Dr. Taylor most recently served Oakland Community College in Michigan as campus president.
The Shawnee Community College Board of Trustees selected Dr. Taylor, at its regular monthly meeting. Taylor succeeds Dr. Kathleen Curphy, who was named the interim-president to fill the vacancy after the departure of the former president, Dr. Peggy Bradford.
“Shawnee College has a rich history of preparing students for the workforce,� said Taylor, “and I am excited about the opportunity to expand on the past success of the SCC Family and about the opportunities ahead of us to advance student success in the Shawnee College District.�
Dr. Taylor begins his term as president on September 9, 2020.
