MARION (WSIL) -- Dozens were out running in the FFA and FFA Alumni Blue and Gold 5K run/walk Saturday morning.
It's a dual event between the Marion FFA chapter and the Alumni chapter, aimed at raising funds for FFA events and for senior scholarships.
Heather Pulley, an FFA advisor and agriculture teacher, says the event is all about creating another opportunity to help other members of the community.
"Marion is a huge community, but we have plenty of students that can't afford all of the things that we do; this helps pay for that, and it also provides scholarships for our graduating seniors." says Pulley.
Saturday's 5K also included a pancake and sausage breakfast afterwards in the MHS Cafeteria.
Marion FFA takes part in several competitive events each year - as well as attending leadership workshops and the state FFA Convention in Springfield.
