BENTON, IL (WSIL) -- Franklin County is one step closer to having a new courthouse.
At Thursday night's county board meeting, members discussed bids for construction of the new courthouse.
County board chairman, Randall Crocker, says the bids for building the new courthouse are encouraging. "I think generally it was a little lower than what I was anticipating and I was very pleased with all the bids really," said Crocker.
The final vote on which company will get the bid for construction will take place Tuesday, August 18th.
Crews will begin demolition of the current building Wednesday, August 5th.
