(WSIL) -- With many of us being home right now, it's causing a little problem for some frontline workers who say they could use some help.
Robert Willming with Republic Services, a company that picks up waste and recycling for residents and business in southern Illinois, says household trash is up around 15%.
He explains its likely due to homeowner having more time to clear out the clutter that has been collecting over the years and it being spring cleaning season.
This has been causing some safety hazards for his frontline workers and offers some tips to help.

Willimg says another huge issue has been homeowner leaving trash bags next to the bins causing drivers having to get out of their truck to pick it up.
This is a health concern as it potentially exposes them to any harmful contamination including the Coroanvirus.
Willming says they're just trying to keep frontline workers safe while on the job.
"We're trying to reduce the contamination potential for our employees to keep them safe and be able to continue to go for the long-term and get through this pandemic," he explains.
Willming adds that the increase in trash also adds a strain on workers being able to finish their route on time, and that they want to keep customers happy.
