WILLIAMSON COUNTY, ILLINOIS (WSIL) -- Considered the Westminster of Southern Illinois, close to 600 dogs and more than 130 breed are in Marion for the Crab Orchard Kennel Club Dog Show.

Now in its 63rd year, the show attracts participants from coast-to-coast pawing their way to the "Best In Show" ring. Hundreds of dogs competed in a Confirmation Show at the Marion Pavilion on Saturday.

Cheri White, who is President of the kennel club and helps to organize the event, says during the confirmation show dogs are judged on a set of standards and not against each other.

"It's just like Westminster, some of the same dogs may be here," she explains. "Tomorrow we have 501 entries, and we will get down to Best in Show down to just the one dog."

Sunday, is when the dogs will compete against each other. Breed judging begins at 8:30 a.m. followed by groups and then Best in Show.

Entry to watch the event is $5.
