GIDEON, Mo. (WSIL) -- Residents in Gideon are still feeling the impact from Monday night's storms. Crews have been working all day to clean up downed trees and powerlines.

"Hail just started beating on the windows, and as you can see my house is, it would actually have to come in at an angle to hit that, so I made everybody get in the hallway, and then my front door slammed open," said Jennifer Tate.

Across town, Vonda Samples was in the middle of cooking dinner when the storm hit.

"I told him the whole house is shaking, and he opened the door and he said, 'There's more than just a straight line wind. That has to be a tornado.' He said get in the hall, and I got in hall, and I'm sitting there, and I could hear the tin on top of the house squeaking and stuff."

Just feet away from where Samples rode out the storm, her trailer home was destroyed, and her belongings thrown down the street.

"Four houses down from me there's still some of my stuff that I can see, and I can see more out in the field past them," said Samples.

The storm also took down large trees and power lines, leaving folks without power.

"Right now, we're all just doing the best we can and not having any power right now. We have no power, we have no water. This has been, this happened last night, so we don't have any idea of when it could possibly turn back on," explained Tate.

Despite the widespread damage, no major injuries were reported.
