LAKE OF EGYPT, Ill. (WSIL) -- A boil water order has been issued for Lake of Egypt water customers on Thursday.

The order was issued at 12:51 p.m. on December 12.

The order was issued for all customers on Market Street, starting from Hudgens Road and going south to Lake of Egypt Road at the fire station. This includes all adjoining roads, along with all of the Deer Run subdivision.

The alert is in effect until further notice.

The CDC recommends bringing water to a full rolling boil for one minute, or three minutes at elevations above 6,500 feet. Then allow the water to cool before using it.

When washing hands with tap water during a boil water order, it's recommended to use soap and water, then using alcohol-based hand sanitizer and let them air dry.
