WSIL(Carterville, Ill.)-- This afternoon, most of us are seeing lots of hot weather with actual air temperatures in the mid 90s and heat index values in the upper 90s.Â
This evening, you can expect to still see clear skies and hot weather. By 7PM, we will be seeing temperatures in the mid 80s with heat index values likely in the lower 90s.Â
Overnight, we will see a weak disturbance move through and generate few isolated showers and storms after midnight. Shower and storm chances will be isolated at best, but with any storm that does develop, there is a low chance that one could turn strong to severe with the main hazards being damaging wind and small hail.Â
We could see a we isolated showers linger early tomorrow morning, but most of us will be dry to start Sunday. It will be quite warm, however, with temperatures in the upper 70s to start.Â
Highs tomorrow will be similar to today, likely in the low to mid 90s with peak heat index values in the mid to upper 90s across southern Illinois.Â
Further south in western Kentucky and far southeastern Missouri, we could see peak heat index values in the afternoon of up to 105. For this, there is a heat advisory across far southeastern Missouri and northwestern Tennessee.Â
Heat is expected to continue next week with highs in the mid to upper 90s expected Monday and Tuesday; heat index values will likely top 100 degrees both days.Â
