* WHAT...Heat index values up to 108 expected.

* WHERE...All of southern Illinois, southwest Indiana, western
Kentucky, and southeast Missouri.

* WHEN...Until 7 PM CDT /8 PM EDT/ Tuesday.

* IMPACTS...Hot temperatures and high humidity may cause heat
illnesses.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

Drink plenty of fluids, stay in an air-conditioned room, stay out of
the sun, and check up on relatives and neighbors.

Take extra precautions when outside. Wear lightweight and loose
fitting clothing. Try to limit strenuous activities to early morning
or evening. Take action when you see symptoms of heat exhaustion and
heat stroke.

Herrin Rotary Club hosts "Picnic in the Park"

HERRIN (WSIL) -- The community comes together in Herrin for a picnic at the city park. 

The event was a hit for adults and kids with older folks enjoying music and a Bags tournament.

While the kiddos could have fun with some arts and crafts or meet local first responders.

Organizers say, it's a great way to spend time outdoors with neighbors.

The picnic is a joint effort between the City of Herrin and the Rotary Club.

It was postponed a few weeks back over rainy weather.
