POPE COUNTY, ILLINOIS (WSIL) -- First responders are warning hikers to be careful after a fall in Pope County.
The Pope County Fire department was called to Burden Falls on Saturday around 5 p.m.
A man, possibly in his 40's, was crossing the creek when he stepped in moss and fell off the cliff, which is a 40-50 foot drop.
That's according to Fire Chief Josh Light, who says the man's injuries were non life-threatening but serious and likely to his arms and back.
The victim was airlifted for treatment.
Multiple agencies were called into help including the Stonefort Fire Department, Vienna Fire Department, New Burnside Fire department, Johnson County ambulance, Hardin County ambulance, Illinois State Police. and forest service.Â
