SPRINGFIELD (ILLINOIS CAPITOL BUREAU) -- The Senate Republican caucus says the General Assembly should hold an open hearing on Governor JB Pritzker's "Restore Illinois" plan.
Members say their Democratic colleagues should join as Illinoisans want their voices heard on the reopening plan.
The senators say it is time for Democratic leaders to allow them to be a part of the discussion to move the state forward.
Even though the special session is scheduled to end Friday night, Minority Leader Bill Brady (R-Bloomington) says there's still time to work in a bipartisan manner to restart the economy.
"Even on a simple majority, we've got until the end of the month to do the work we need to do. We've proven we can do it safely. We're here to do it safely and we want to do it safely," said Sen. Brady.
Brady says lawmakers have to fight to reengage the economy as quickly as possible.
He says people deserve more than information from the governor's press briefings.
