...HEAT ADVISORY REMAINS IN EFFECT UNTIL 7 PM CDT /8 PM EDT/
FRIDAY...

* WHAT...Peak daily heat index values up to around 105 degrees.

* WHERE...All of southern Illinois, southwest Indiana, western
Kentucky, and southeast Missouri.

* WHEN...Until 7 PM CDT /8 PM EDT/ Friday.

* IMPACTS...Prolonged hot temperatures and high humidity may
cause heat illnesses.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

Drink plenty of fluids, stay in an air-conditioned room, stay out
of the sun, and check up on relatives and neighbors.

Take extra precautions when outside. Wear lightweight and loose
fitting clothing. Try to limit strenuous activities to early
morning or evening. Take action when you see symptoms of heat
exhaustion and heat stroke.

Large police presence near Carbondale Apartment Complex

CARBONDALE, Ill. -- Police in Carbondale alerted the public about a large police presence on Wednesday afternoon.

The Carbondale Police Department alerted the public at 3:55 p.m., stating there was a large police presence at the entrance of the Fields Apartment complex.

Police said this is part of an investigation and that there was no danger to the public.

Less than 20 minutes later, the Carbondale Police Department said the police units have left the area.
