* WHAT...Daily Heat index values up to 106.

* WHERE...All of southern Illinois, southwest Indiana, western
Kentucky, and southeast Missouri.

* WHEN...Until 7 PM CDT /8 PM EDT/ Friday.

* IMPACTS...Prolonged exposure to hot temperatures and high humidity
may cause heat illnesses.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

Drink plenty of fluids, stay in an air-conditioned room, stay out of
the sun, and check up on relatives and neighbors.

Take extra precautions when outside. Wear lightweight and loose
fitting clothing. Try to limit strenuous activities to early morning
or evening. Take action when you see symptoms of heat exhaustion and
heat stroke.

Marion Police Chief announces K9 Benzo's death

MARION, Ill. (WSIL) -- The Marion Police Department is mourning the loss of one of its K9 officers on Sunday.

"It is with great sadness that I have to announce the passing of Marion Police K-9 'Benzo.' Benzo was unable to overcome his illness and left us around 3:00 a.m. today," Marion Police Chief David Fitts said in an online social media post on June 22.

The department and Officer Welge are asking for thoughts and prayers during this difficult time.
