One Dead After Motorcycle Reportedly Collides with Squad Car, Dash Cam Released

MARION, Ill. -- One person is dead after a motorcycle collides with a squad car in Marion on Sunday.

The Illinois State Police (ISP) said their Division of Criminal Investigation Zone 7 is investigating the incident after a request from the Williamson County Sheriff's Office. 

ISP stated the incident happened at 12:50 a.m. on May 26. Police said Herrin Police Department officers were in a pursuit with a motorcycle in Herrin. The Williamson County Sheriff's Office and Energy Police Department were assisting in the pursuit.

The motorcycle then reportedly collided with a stationary Williamson County Sheriff's Office squad car at Illinois Route 13 and Carbon Street in Marion.

The driver of the motorcycle was pronounced dead at the scene, ISP stated.

The investigation is ongoing by the Illinois State Police.
