Police investigate multiple vehicle thefts and auto burglaries in southern Illinois

MURPHYSBORO, Ill. (WSIL) -- Multiple southern Illinois agencies are investigating auto burglaries and thefts across the area recently.

Police in Murphysboro alerted the public on Monday morning, stating they, along with other agencies, are investigating several vehicle thefts and auto burglaries going on in the past few weeks.

Police are advising the public to lock their vehicles. They also offer these vehicle theft prevention tips...

  • If possible, secure your vehicle in a garage
  • Never leave your vehicle unattended while running
  • Do not leave your spare keys in your vehicle
  • Always roll up your windows and secure your vehicle
  • Park in well-lit areas when possible

If you do have your vehicle burglarized or stolen, you are urged to call the Murphysboro Police Department or your local law enforcement agency.
