Suspect arrested in relation to shooting over weekend

PADUCAH, Ky. -- Authorities arrested a suspect on Thursday in connection to a shooting that took place over the weekend.

The McCracken County Sheriff's Office said the shooting happened on January 13, at 2:49 p.m. on Beyer Lane.

When deputies got there, they found a 25-year-old with a gunshot wound to the left leg. They then helped the victim and stopped the bleeding until an ambulance arrived.

Deputies started investigating and found there was an altercation between William Philip Neihoff, 50, and the victim, the sheriff's office said. They said they believe the victim was shot with a 12-guage shotgun which struck his leg.

The sheriff's office investigated the scene and obtained an arrest warrant for William Philip Neihoff for 1st degree assault and convicted felon in possession of a firearm charges.

A search for Neihoff started and the McCracken County Sheriff's Office said he was considered armed and dangerous.

On Thursday at 1:17 p.m., a detective with the McCracken County Sheriff's Office saw Neihoff in a vehicle in the area of Kevil. At this time, Ballard County Sheriff deputies along with McCracken County Sheriff deputies stopped the vehicle and took Neihoff in custody.

Neihoff was then taken to the McCracken County Regional Jail and has been charged with 1st degree assault and convicted felon in possession of a firearm.
