...Scattered Thunderstorms with Gusty Winds and Torrential
Downpours...

At 3:35 PM CDT, National Weather Service Doppler radar was
tracking scattered thunderstorms the Evansville Tri-State area
into southern Illinois and far western and northwestern Kentucky.
These storms are producing torrential downpours, gusty winds up
to 40 mph, and frequent lightning strikes. If outdoors, seek
shelter in a sturdy structure if you hear thunder or see a flash
of lightning. Localized street flooding is also possible from
these thunderstorms.

...HEAT ADVISORY REMAINS IN EFFECT UNTIL 7 PM CDT /8 PM EDT/
FRIDAY...

* WHAT...Daily heat index values of 100 to 107.

* WHERE...Portions of southern Illinois, southwest Indiana,
western Kentucky, and southeast Missouri.

* WHEN...Until 7 PM CDT /8 PM EDT/ Friday.

* IMPACTS...Prolonged exposure to hot temperatures and high
humidity may cause heat illnesses.

* ADDITIONAL DETAILS...The first prolonged stretch of heat and
humidity of the season will amplify health impacts. Health
impacts will build with each successive day in the heat and
humidity.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

Drink plenty of fluids, stay in an air-conditioned room, stay out
of the sun, and check up on relatives and neighbors.

Take extra precautions when outside. Wear lightweight and loose
fitting clothing. Try to limit strenuous activities to early
morning or evening. Take action when you see symptoms of heat
exhaustion and heat stroke.

Kroger in Carbondale celebrates remodel

CARBONDALE, Ill. (WSIL) -- Kroger in Carbondale held a ribbon cutting event on Friday, June 6, to celebrate their recent remodel.

Kroger employees, city leaders and the community took part in the event.

On hand were samples and giveaways, including a Blackstone Grill and a Michelob Golf Bag. There were also gift cards given out to the first 100 shoppers.

The ribbon cutting event was sponsored by Carbondale Kroger and the Carbondale Chamber of Commerce.
