7 PM CDT /8 PM EDT/ TUESDAY...

* WHAT...Heat index values 100 to 108 expected.

* WHERE...Portions of southern Illinois, southwest Indiana, western
Kentucky, and southeast Missouri.

* WHEN...From noon CDT /1 PM EDT/ today to 7 PM CDT /8 PM EDT/
Tuesday.

* IMPACTS...Hot temperatures and high humidity may cause heat
illnesses.

* ADDITIONAL DETAILS...The first prolonged stretch of heat and
humidity of the season will amplify health impacts. Health impacts
will build with each successive day in the heat and humidity.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

Drink plenty of fluids, stay in an air-conditioned room, stay out of
the sun, and check up on relatives and neighbors.

Take extra precautions when outside. Wear lightweight and loose
fitting clothing. Try to limit strenuous activities to early morning
or evening. Take action when you see symptoms of heat exhaustion and
heat stroke.

Laborers Local 773 grilling out to help veterans

MARION (WSIL) -- There's a grill out happening to help veterans living in Williamson County.

Those with Laborers' Local 773 are smoking pork butts to sell and collect funds as a donation.

Crews started dark and early on Friday, September 25 at 4:30 in morning to get all the meat cooked and ready for customers.

All proceeds go to the Haven House in Marion, which organizers say, has fallen into financial burdens due to the pandemic.

The cost is $40 and those who want a smoked pork butt can order one online or call (618) 993-5773.

The orders can be picked up on Saturday, September 26 at the Haven House from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m.
