(WSIL) -- Several ceremonies are taking place around our region Saturday to honor those lost in the September 11 attacks 20 years ago.

Here is a list of events by time:

  • 9/11 Memorial Walk, Williamson County
    • Approx. 100 firefighters from Williamson County Fire Departments walking 1 mile legs on Route 13 from the Saline County line to the Jackson County Line. Each firefighter will be in full bunker gear including SCBA, approx. 60 extra pounds of equipment.
    • 6 a.m.
  • 9/11 Remembrance Ceremony, Mt. Vernon
    • North side of Jefferson County Courthouse
    • 7:15 a.m. ceremony including V FW, American Legion, local law enforcement, choir
  • Jefferson County remembrances
    • Flags on I-57 overpasses 8-11:30
    • Flag Presentation at Casey Junior High 10:30 a.m.
  • Rend Lake Ceremony
    • Southern Illinois Youth Shooting Assoc.
    • 8 a.m. at Rend Lake Shooting Complex
    • Moment of Silence, Salute involving youth members
  • 9/11 memorial ceremony, Golconda
    • 8:30 a.m. Pope County Courthouse lawn (bring a chair)
    • Memorial Walk, Ceremony with local law enforcement/first responders
  • Marion
    • Main Street to Williamson County Fairgrounds
    • 10 a.m.
    • Ceremony to follow at Fairgrounds
  • Patriot Day Ceremony, Carbondale
    • 9 a.m.
    • Flagpole in front of Altgeld Hall on SIU Campus
    • Guest speaker, flag lowering service, Honor Guard, prayer, moment of silence, bell ringing at 9:28 a.m.
  • , Benton
    • 9 a.m. to 10 a.m.
    • Capitol Park Pavilion on the Square
    • Special ceremony, picture wall
  • , Cairo
    • 11 a.m.
    • Begins at 10th & Commercial Ave.
    • Ends on 8th Street
  • America What's Next event, Thompsonville
    • 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Thompsonville Seventh-day Adventist Worship Center
    • Sen. Fowler, Rep. Severin, NYC First responder representative part of ceremony
    • Music
  • 9/11 Memorial Ceremony, Mt. Vernon
    • 1:45 p.m. in front of the Mitchell House at Cedarhurst
    • Remarks by Sheriff Bullard, Mt. Vernon Chief Sargent, American Legion Commander Collins
    • Honor Guard, flag folding ceremony, salute
  • 9/11 Stair Climb, Anna
    • Anna Fire Dept.
    • 4 p.m. Anna-Jonesboro Community High School
    • Climb the number of stairs that were in the World Trade Center towers
  • Patriot Ceremony, Benton
    • Before the High School Football game starts at 7 p.m.
