CARBONDALE (WSIL) -- A local cheer team in Carbondale gets bid to compete in a national cheer competition.
Two teams from Ultimate Cheer in Carbondale are expected to compete at the D-2 summit at Disney World.
They made that advancement after winning a competition in Branson, Missouri.
The D-2 summit is one of the most prestigious cheer competitions in the country.
Ultimate Cheer team head coach, Jen Melton, tells us--she's proud of both teams and it's a good reminder -- hard work and dedication can really pay off.
Melton said, "I'm proud for many reasons but one of the reasons I'm incredibly proud is that our youth team has actually close to half of the team is brand new this year so they never done competitive cheer ever."
The D-2 summit takes place May 7th through the 9th at Disney World in Orlando, Florida.
