CARTERVILLE, Ill. (WSIL) -- Today marks the National Day of Prayer. This annual event was formalized by
Across the country, Americans are pausing to connect through prayer. Locally, the Carterville Ministerial Alliance is one of the many organizations participating in the observance.Â
Held at the Veteran's Memorial, groups gathered to listen and sing to praise songs, hear prayers by faith leaders, and take a moment of silence for personal prayer.Â
Zach Bollman, pastor of Fellowship in Christ Christian Church and president of the Carterville Ministerial Alliance shares his hope that people feel the impact of this initiative not just locally, but nationwide.Â
"We care about the problems, the concerns that are going on in our own community and in our nation at large and so we're praying for them because we're hoping that God would work and intervene and bring healing and hope and restoration and I think that we all could benefit from things like that."
He says the crowd that showed up to this prayer today compared to previous years was encouraging and shows the growing importance of community.Â
Pastor Bollman said, "In a world where there's a lot of anxiety and sometimes people can feel hopeless that this is a day of hope. That there are millions of people right now caring about them, praying for them and asking that God would work and show himself in their lives."
