(WSIL) -- Long time teacher and retired Benton Principal, Gene Alexander has died.
Alexander was well known as "Mr. A" in the community for his work in education and "map painting" at locations across the region.
Alexander was honored with a bronze statue, of Mr. A sitting on a bench, holding a book back in March.Â

According to Leffler Funeral Home, arrangements for Mr. A are pending at this time.
