MARION (WSIL) -- A tradition is returning this year as the Marion Knight of Columbus will hold their Independence Day Celebrations.
The two-day event kicks-off Friday, July 3rd at 5 p.m. when food and drink vendors will open up. Some of those include classic fair foods and lemonade shake-ups, as well as, snow cones.
There will also be free inflatable games for the kids to enjoy.
Danny and the Dreamers will take the stage at 7 p.m. and belt out some Oldie Classics.
Festivities will start back on the 4th of July at 5 p.m. This time Murphy 500 will perform at 7 p.m. up until dusk when the fireworks display will begin.
John Stoecklin, Co-Chair of the Fireworks Committee says, visitors will see fireworks like never before.
"We are excited to do it because we have not missed a year in 33 years so we are excited to put this on for the community," he explains. "For the people of southern Illinois, and again make it the biggest and the best that we've ever done."
Following the fireworks, Murphy 500 will take the stage once again.
Visitors are reminded to bring their lawn chair or blanket, and to maintain social distancing.Â
A $5 donation is also appreciated to help with next's years celebration. Many fundraising efforts by the group were canceled this year due to COVID-19.
