MARSHALL COUNTY, Ky. -- A man turned himself into police in connection with a shooting.

On January 31, Marshall County Sheriff's officials responded to the Hilldale Apartments in Hardin for a report of that shooting.

The victim, 31-year-old Zachary T. Mcalpin of Puryear, TN, was airlifted to a hospital for his injuries.

The suspect, 31-year-old Kyle A. Neal, turned himself into the sheriff's office today. He told investigators he was loading his firearm when it accidentally went off. He said the round went through the apartment door and struct Mcalpin, who was at the complex performing duties as a telecommunications contractor

Neal has been charged with wanton endangerment 1st degree. He will appear in Marshall District Court next month.
