FEMA assistance available in Sikeston for May 16 disaster victims

SIKESTON, Mo. (WSIL) -- A Disaster Recovery Center is set to open on Tuesday, July 1, in Scott County to aid those affected by the May 16 storms.

The center will feature FEMA Individual Assistance staff members to help residents in need.

The center will be located at the Tanner Street Church of God at 619 Tanner Street in Sikeston. It will operate Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, Friday, and Saturday from 8 a.m. to 7 p.m., and on Wednesday from 8 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. It will be closed on Sundays and on Friday, July 4, but will reopen on Saturday, July 5.

FEMA and the U.S. Small Business Administration will be on-site to assist with disaster assistance applications, answer questions, and upload necessary documents. Residents are encouraged to apply for FEMA assistance before visiting the center.

Applications can be submitted online at or by calling 800-621-3362. If online or phone applications are not possible, staff at the center will provide assistance.

The deadline to apply for FEMA assistance related to the May 16 disaster is August 11, 2025. FEMA may provide financial aid for uninsured damages to homes or personal property, including home repairs, temporary housing, and replacing essential items.
