One in critical condition after shooting in southeast Missouri, police investigate

POPLAR BLUFF, Mo. (WSIL) -- Police are investigating a shooting which they say resulted in one person taken to the hospital and is in critical condition.

The Poplar Bluff Police Department said on November 4, at 5:24 p.m., officers responded to a report of several shots fired in the area of Illinois Avenue and Iowa Avenue.

After officers got to the scene, they reported finding a 34-year-old man walking along the roadway. Police said this person had multiple gunshot wounds and was then taken to the Poplar Bluff Regional Medical Center. He was later taken to a Cape Girardeau hospital and is in critical condition.

Police said the suspect(s) left the area before police arrived at the scene.
