FRIDAY...

* WHAT...Daily heat index values up to 106.

* WHERE...All of southern Illinois, southwest Indiana, western
Kentucky, and southeast Missouri.

* WHEN...Until 7 PM CDT /8 PM EDT/ Friday.

* IMPACTS...Prolonged exposure to hot temperatures and high humidity
may cause heat illnesses.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

Drink plenty of fluids, stay in an air-conditioned room, stay out of
the sun, and check up on relatives and neighbors.

Take extra precautions when outside. Wear lightweight and loose
fitting clothing. Try to limit strenuous activities to early morning
or evening. Take action when you see symptoms of heat exhaustion and
heat stroke.

One seriously injured after single-vehicle crash in southeast MIssouri

MOREHOUSE, Mo. (WSIL) -- A person was seriously injured after a single-vehicle crash in New Madrid County on Tuesday.

The Missouri State Highway Patrol said the crash happened at 3 a.m. on June 17, along Missouri Highway E, roughly two miles south of Morehouse.

State police said a 24-year-old man from New Madrid was driving a 2004 Dodge Ram 1500 going north when the vehicle went off the right side of the road, hit a ditch and then overturned.

The driver was taken to the St. Francis Medical Center for treatment of serious injuries.

State police also said he was not wearing a seatbelt at the time of the crash.
