One stabbed multiple times in Dexter, suspect taken into custody

DEXTER, Mo. -- A police department in one southeast Missouri city have a man in custody after officers were called to a report of a stabbing over the weekend.

The Dexter Police Department said it happened at 4:09 a.m. on October 14. Officers went out to the 300-block of West Business Highway 60 for the stabbing call.

Police said a victim there was stabbed multiple times and was treated for non-life threatening injuries.

Police said about 7 minutes later at 4:16 a.m., a 32-year-old white male was taken into custody in the area of the crime scene.

The suspect was identified as Joseph M. Frye, 32 of Dexter, and was taken to the Dexter Police Department.

Frye faces charges of assault, armed criminal action, tampering with a witness in a felony prosecution, unlawful use of a weapon, harassment, resisting arrest and peace disturbance.

The Stoddard County Prosecuting Attorney's Office was notified and the investigation is ongoing.
