Murphysboro Fire officials respond to house fire

MURPHYSBORO, Ill. -- The Murphysboro Fire Department responded to a house fire on Saturday night. 

According to the department, the fire occurred on 421 North 16th Street. 

A neighbor reported the fire to officials via 911 call. The resident told deputies an obscene amount of smoke was coming from the house on fire. 

The department said officials arrived on scene around 6:00 Saturday night. 

No word was given on injuries or the state of the house.
