WILLIAMSON COUNTY, IL (WSIL) -- Dozens made their way to Hurst Sunday afternoon for the first-ever, Big Muddy Farmers Market.
Vendors and food trucks filled the parking lot at Big Muddy Hogs, which is hosting the event. Produce, fresh meats, crafts and much more were available.
Big Muddy Hogs' operator Roger Schuttek say, it's a team effort to organize and bring everyone together for the market.
"Just to try and give as many different smaller farms someplace to go," says Schuttek on another opportunity in the region to shop fresh. "There's not a whole lot of afternoon farmers markets in southern Illinois and it conflicts with some peoples' schedule to have to get out in the mornings, so we figured this is going to work out and help a lot of people."
As the growing season gets under-way, more vendors and more produce will be there.
The Big Muddy Farmers Market is to take place each Sunday, from noon to 4 p.m.
