(CNN) -- Congress is approving two new Smithsonian museum, one focused on American Latinos and the other dedicated to American women's history.

The massive legislation package passed by lawmakers Monday includes money for the new museums.

It could take years to conceptualize, curate and build the museums, but Congress' approval is a victory for the advocates whose efforts to build them go back decades.

Half of the funding for both will be provided by federal funds and the other half from private donations.

The museums have two years to designate a site.

The bill now heads to President Donald Trump's desk for his signature.

The most recent Smithsonian museum was the National Museum of African American History and Culture. It was approved by Congress in 2003 and didn't open to the public until 2016.
