* WHAT...Heat index values 100 to 107 expected.

* WHERE...Portions of southern Illinois, southwest Indiana, western
Kentucky, and southeast Missouri.

* WHEN...Until 7 PM CDT /8 PM EDT/ Tuesday.

* IMPACTS...Hot temperatures and high humidity may cause heat
illnesses.

* ADDITIONAL DETAILS...The first prolonged stretch of heat and
humidity of the season will amplify health impacts. Health impacts
will build with each successive day in the heat and humidity.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

Drink plenty of fluids, stay in an air-conditioned room, stay out of
the sun, and check up on relatives and neighbors.

Take extra precautions when outside. Wear lightweight and loose
fitting clothing. Try to limit strenuous activities to early morning
or evening. Take action when you see symptoms of heat exhaustion and
heat stroke.

“The Very Hungry Caterpillar� author Eric Carle dies at 91

(CNN) -- The author and artist of "The Very Hungry Caterpillar" and many other popular children's books has died.

Eric Carle was 91-years-old.

On his Twitter account, his team announced his death on Sunday.

"The Very Hungry Caterpillar" was published in 1969. Carle's website says it has been translated into 66 languages and has sold more than 50 million copies.

He and his late wife opened "The Eric Carle Museum of Picture Book Art" in Massachusetts in 2002.

Throughout his life, Carle was awarded honorary degrees from more than 5 universities.
