No more milk glass bottles in Farm Fresh stores

(WSIL) —ÌýWilliamson County resident and loyal Chester Dairy customer Bobby Samuel says he’s sad,ÌýÌýhe’ll no longer be able to buy milk from a glass bottle.Ìý

Samuel adds,"Life changes. I’m sorry for them. I’ll have to find another source of milk,Ìýbut it’s just been a pleasure.ÌýI’ve got to known the folks and I’m going to miss them."

Samuel says, he’s been buying milk from the company for two decades.Ìý

He explains, "They haven’t raised their prices in a number of years and I like that. There’s kinda like this nostalgic of the glass bottle."

Dave Armstrong,Ìýthe owner of Farm Fresh in Carterville says,Ìýhe was contacted last week by Chester DairyÌýand told they will stop operating at the end of the year. Milk and juice items from the company will soon disappear.

He says, "That’s something that defines our region and as we lose those things we become more like everywhere else."

Armstrong saysÌýalthough the store will no longer sell milk in a glass bottle. They’ll continue their diary sales.ÌýAs for customers like Samuel, although he’s sad to break a tradition. He’ll keep the memory going with family in Texas.Ìý

He adds,"Life is always changing. One thing that I would like to share my son is so impressed with these bottles he wanted some. So I’m giving my last two are going to be gifts to him."

News 3 reached out to Chester Dairy owner, Jason Ohlau, about the closure. He has yet to respond.Ìý
