QULIN, Mo. (WSIL) -- A 20-year-old was taken to the hospital with serious injuries after a car crashed into a utility pole on Saturday.

The Missouri State Highway Patrol said the crash happened on County Road 226, roughly three miles south of Qulin on June 7, at 3:25 a.m.

State police said a 20-year-old man from Caruthersville was driving a 2005 Pontiac Sunfire going east when the vehicle traveled off the road and hit a utility pole.

The driver was taken by ambulance to St. Bernards with serious injuries.

State police said the driver was not wearing a seatbelt at the time of the crash.

The Sunfire was considered totaled and towed from the scene.
