METROPOLIS (WSIL)--A 19-year-old from Metropolis now claims the title for youngest Alderman in Illinois.

Dylan Chambers was elected last week as alderman from the second ward in Metropolis.

Chambers is the youngest alderman in Massac County's history. He's one of the youngest in Illinois' history.

He says he has big plans to help Metropolis and hopes this election is his first step to bigger things.

"I would like to see myself get to the White House. I really would like to see myself get there. I've got 18 years to do it, but it's gonna take some time. But this is the starting point and just getting my feet wet now," said Chambers.

Right now, Chambers is a freshman at SIU studying Sports Administration.

He'll be inaugurated May 10th.
