(WSIL) -- With all the attention on vote counts in those key battleground states in the Presidential race, it may surprise you to learn Illinois isn't finished counting either.

In fact, an important deadline is much later than other states. Counties across the state won't have a final count until November 17.

According to the

As of Friday, the reports Williamson County has 777 uncounted ballots with 144 mail-in ballots returned, but not counted.

The county clerk also said they have about 53 rejected ballots, due to a signature that didn't match or incorrect address; voters still have time to fix that by the 17th.

And so far, they've only had to reject one ballot that was postmarked after the November 3rd deadline.

"People wanted to get out and vote and they did. A lot of people came in and registered on Election Day or updated their address. I think we have a little over 500 people come in that day and just update their address or register to vote," said Amanda Barnes.

The clerk also said voter turnout rate was reported 71%, which was a slight increase from 2016, which was 70%.

And Barnes said she was very surprised by the early voting turnout, which was nearly 11,000 voters.
