MARION (WSIL) -- Many local restaurants in our region have seen a drop of customers due to the Coronavirus, but some owners are choosing to make the best out of the situation.

The owners of , Kevin and Michelle Borum, say normally the restaurant is packed with diners, especially Thursday through Saturday evening.

Patrons order everything from BBQ fresh off the smoker to other favorites like fish and burgers, as well as, slices of homemade pies.

Although meals are still being offered through the drive-thru window and online delivery apps, orders have dropped.

Normally, the restaurant also offers breakfast each morning starting at 5:30, but even that's been put on hold until business picks back up.

However, the Borums say they're choosing to use this time as a positive for the restaurant by remodeling the building, which would have been impossible before the pandemic because of how busy they usually are.

The couple is allowing employees who want to work to help with the project.

"Half of them (employees) are terrified and scared to death to do anything, Kevin explains. "The other half of them are feeling like let's just get through this."

Renovations include remodeling the bathrooms, new flooring and carpeting throughout the building, fresh paint and more.

The couple adds when dine-in service can resume that customers will notice a difference, and some have already noticed that changes are being made.

"They'll be excited and notice it," the Borums say. "I've had a few come up to the window who have seen it or heard about it somewhere."

The restaurant is still open for to-go orders through their drive-thru window. While, delivery is available by Door Dash or Grubhub.
