PULASKI (WSIL) -- Organizers at the Saint John Praise and Worship Center helped provide food to those in need amid the Coronavirus pandemic Saturday afternoon.

The church says they have witnessed the challenges families are going through currently; that includes those who are out of work, a rising cost in groceries, and a need for reassurance in a time of uncertainty.

Pastor Larry Barnett says the event Saturday was about feeding both the body and the spirit.

"We're still a place of hope, we're a save haven. And in time of need, you can still turn to the Lord, and that's what we're about. We wanted to feed people twice; we wanted to feed them spiritually, but then it's important that we feed them physically as well," says Pastor Barnett.

The church held a small worship service with songs and prayers before loading up the cars with the food.

Saint John provided more than 300 families with boxes of fresh fruit, vegetables, and spiritual literature.
