* WHAT...Heat index values 100 to 108 expected.

* WHERE...Portions of southern Illinois, southwest Indiana, western
Kentucky, and southeast Missouri.

* WHEN...From noon CDT /1 PM EDT/ today to 7 PM CDT /8 PM EDT/
Tuesday.

* IMPACTS...Hot temperatures and high humidity may cause heat
illnesses.

* ADDITIONAL DETAILS...The first prolonged stretch of heat and
humidity of the season will amplify health impacts. Health impacts
will build with each successive day in the heat and humidity.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

Drink plenty of fluids, stay in an air-conditioned room, stay out of
the sun, and check up on relatives and neighbors.

Take extra precautions when outside. Wear lightweight and loose
fitting clothing. Try to limit strenuous activities to early morning
or evening. Take action when you see symptoms of heat exhaustion and
heat stroke.

Santa visits families at Marion Pavilion

MARION, Ill. (WSIL) -- Some lucky children got their photo snapped with Santa Claus Tuesday evening at The Pavilion of the City of Marion.

The Pavilion and the Marion Carnegie Library teamed to bring Santa to Marion a little early. Families waited in line in their cars while listening to holiday tunes from a selected radio station. Once the family drove up to Santa, they got out of their vehicle, stayed a safe distance from Santa, smiled and had their photo taken.

"It's fun for Sophie and it's something we can do that's safe right now during this holiday season and we just love seeing him," said mother of Sophie, Jenna Stotlar.

If you missed Tuesday night's opportunity, there will be another photo session with Mister Claus at The Pavilion of the City of Marion in just a couple of weeks on December 19 at 3 p.m. until 6 p.m.
