
WSIL(Carterville, Ill.) -- This morning, we are tracking snow that is starting to wind down across the area. Still, we will see could see the chance for a couple of isolated to scattered snow showers through the rest of the morning but we should see dry conditions for the rest of the afternoon. This evening, however, we could see scattered snow showers to redevelop in our western counties and track west to east. No major accumulations are expected.Â

Now that the bulk of the snow is over, the next hazard that will be felt across the region is the dangerous cold. Today, we will see temperatures only top out in the mid to upper teens, to maybe 20 for some locations. Winds today will be in the gusty side at 10 to 15 miles per hour, sustained, with gusts 20 to 25 miles per hour. This will cause wind chill values today to remain in the single digits.Â

Tomorrow, we will see morning lows between 0 and 5 degrees across southern Illinois, with wind chill values in the morning that could be as low as 10 to 15 degrees below zero. For this, we under a Cold Weather Advisory from now until 10 AM tomorrow morning. Afternoon highs tomorrow will be in the mid to upper teen, with wind chill values remaining in the single digits. At least we will see mostly sunny skies.Â
For the rest of the work, we are tracking conditions that will remain calm, but cold.Â
