"Every day, our Head Start staff work closely, not just with the children in the program, but with their families and caregivers as well, said Southern 7 Outreach Coordinator, Shawnna Rhine. “This training helps our staff to be better communicators and to learn how to build positive, emotional relationships with the children and their families, which is so important for a child’s learning and life readiness. Essentially, it’s a well-rounded approach to learning."
One Southern 7 official said the goal is growth, “educators grew in their own reflective practices as they explored and learned together about the emotional development of children, self- and colleague- care, supporting temperament in the classroom, the importance of understanding family history and trauma, and creating an emotionally responsive environment.
Organizers say this program is available to any teacher looking to expand their approach to teaching and interacting with children.
