Temperatures climb through the rest of the week

CARTERVILLE (WSIL) -- It has been a relatively mild Wednesday. High temperatures stayed below average, accompanied by partly cloudy skies. Clear conditions are expected overnight with lows dipping into the 60s.

Thursday and Friday will bring more seasonable weather. Plenty of sunshine should be around as we kick off each day, with an isolated storm possible during the afternoon and evening. High temperatures will be slightly warmer, climbing back into the upper 80s.

By the weekend, the summer heat will really begin to crank back up. High temperatures both Saturday and Sunday will rise back into the low to mid 90s. The humidity will also be high, bringing heat indices back up near the triple digits Sunday.

Mid 90s will then stick around into next week. A small "cool" down looks possible by the end of next week. Until then, stay cool.
