ALTO PASS, ILL. (WSIL) -- Thousands of motorcycle riders made their way to the Bald Knob Cross of Peace Sunday for the annual Blessing of the Bikes.
Illinois residents and out-of-state riders arrived in groups or buddied up, so they could receive prayers of safety over this summer's riding season.
The event scaled down its normal offerings last year to keep with COVID mitigation guidelines. Now in its 29th year, vendors, food, and music were all back for the event.
Lord's Paheece Chapter Member Dan Tifft say, it's about fellowship and being there for each other.
"Rain, shine, no matter the weather, we will always be here and that's something people have come to count on, come to lean on, and we'll always be here for them," says Tifft. "The motorcycle community and folks in general believe that God's in control, that he's going to bless the event for us and keep everybody safe."
The event is sponsored by the Christian Motorcycle Association and continues to attract more riders each year.
