Three-vehicle crash in Sikeston kills one and injures two others

SIKESTON, MO. (WSIL) -- An early morning crash kills one person and injures two others including one person who had to be airlifted to a regional hospital.

According to the Missouri Highway Patrol it happened around 3 a.m. Saturday at Lake Street and North Main.

Troopers say Jerry M. Martinez of Bertrand, Missouri had been driving eastbound and failed to stop the 1992 Chevrolet S10 he was driving at a stop light.

The 29-year-old then crashed into a 2000 Dodge 1500 truck that had been headed southbound seriously injuring the driver, Austin L. Blasingain.

Blasingain, a 22-year-old Sikeston resident, sustained serious injuries and had to be airlifted to a hospital in Memphis, Tennessee.

The impact of Blasingain being hit caused the truck that he had been driving to strike another car going northbound.

Larissa B. Shriver-Duck, was the driver inside the 2018 Nissan Versa. Shriver-Duck also a 22-year-old resident of Sikeston received minor injuries and was taken by ambulance to a local medical center.

The coroner pronounced Martinez dead at the scene.
