DIX, Ill. -- One woman is dead and three others taken to hospitals after two side-by-sides crash into each other in Jefferson County on Friday night.
The Jefferson County Coroner Roger Hayse tells News 3 the crash happened on Rock Crusher Lane near Dix, Illinois, around 11:45 p.m. on May 3.
Hayse said it was a head on crash involving two side-by-sides with four people involved in the incident.
Laura ‘Christi� Burns, 53 of Jefferson County, died as a result of the crash, Hayse reported. The other three passengers were sent to a hospital in St. Louis with injuries.
The Jefferson County Sheriff's Office is investigating the crash with assistance from the Illinois State Police Crash Reconstruction Unit.
