JACKSON COUNTY, Ill. (WSIL) � A 26-year-old is dead after authorities said he jumped off a cliff in the area of Kinkaid Lake on Saturday.
The Jackson County Sheriff’s Office said multiple 911 calls were received at 5:22 p.m. on June 21, in regards to a 26-year-old who jumped off a cliff and didn’t resurface in the area of the Kinkaid Lake Bluffs.
Multiple agencies responded and the body of the man was later located.
The identity is being held at this time pending family notification.
Agencies assisting the Jackson County Sheriff’s Office with the response was the Murphysboro Fire Department, Ava Fire Department, Campbell Hill Fire Department, MABAS Division 45/68 Dive Team, Jackson County Ambulance Service and the Illinois Department of Natural Resources Conservation Police.
The sheriff’s office also thanked boaters on the lake with their assistance with the investigation.
