Carbondale police intercept, arrest car passenger with gun

CARBONDALE, Ill. -- Carbondale Police arrested a man on Thursday evening after reportedly seeing him with a gun and drugs. 

Police say they found Isaiah A. King, 19, of Cartervile, in the 800 block of North Wall Street around 5:15 p.m. The station received a tip that King was supposedly sitting in a car with a gun in visible display.

The police quickly arrived to the area and confirmed the tip. Police arrested King and reported he had a loaded gun and drugs in his car. 

Police sent King to the Jackson County Jail and charged him with the following:

  • Unlawful Use of a Weapon
  • Possession of a Controlled Substance

Police say they are still looking into the situation. Anyone who may have information on the crime should call the Carbondale Police Department at 618-549-2121.
